What is Placenta Encapsulation?
Placenta encapsulation is the process by which the placenta is turned into pills after birth for the mother to ingest. The placenta is cleaned, dehydrated, ground into powder, and placed into capsule. Kelly uses the RAW Method for preparation of your placenta, omitting the heating and herbal process that other processors utilize. It is believed that steaming the placenta destroys some of the essential nutrients. A piece of the placenta can also be used to create a tincture.
The benefits of ingesting the placenta are mostly anecdotal due to the lack of research. It is not a new concept, though it is gaining popularity in the US. Maternal ingestion of the placenta goes back thousands of years, most prevalent in the Far East and China, but is practiced in some form through may cultures across the world.
According to the American Pregnancy Association, ingesting the placenta has been shown to boost the release of the feel-good hormone oxytocin, which contributes to mood stability, reduces post partum bleeding, and promotes bonding and a feeling of well-being. Moms who have utilized an encapsulated placenta report an increase in breast milk production, a reduction in post partum depression and post partum anxiety, increased energy levels (thought to be due to replacing iron and vitamin B), less pain after birth, and faster wound healing. Many of these women had a previous birth experience without an encapsulated placenta to compare to their experience utilizing the placenta in this way. The potential benefits are mental, physical, and emotional.

How do I use the tincture?
Putting part of your placenta in tincture form is a great way to stretch out its longevity. A small portion of placenta is added to >100 proof alcohol and set to ferment. Some of the benefits include hormone stabilization in your postpartum cycles, less bleeding and increased energy during those cycles, and for menopause down the road. The female child can also benefit from placental tincture once she begins her menstruation cycles. This extra tincture could also be given to your mother or sister. A tincture lasts forever.
